Aug. 12, 2010 - Spring's Haven Denounces Church Event
To Burn The Quran
In protest of what it calls a religion "of the devil,"
The Dove World Outreach Center (a nondenominational church) in
Gainesville, Florida, plans to host an "International Burn
a Quran Day" on the ninth anniversary of the September
11, 2001, attacks. [More

Spring's Haven joins the many religious and spiritual organizations
who have already denounced this event. We encourage people to
learn about other religions in an effort to understand their
history, perspectives and points of view. In this way we can
learn tolerance and develop understanding, respect and tolerance
to promote a peaceful world.
This type of event is designed to show disrespect for our
Muslim neighbors and will exacerbate tensions between Muslims
throughout the world and every other religion that differs from
their beliefs. This type of act doesn't just affect Christians,
but people of all faiths. We here at Spring's Haven urge the
cancellation of the burning.
Instead we encourage our members to cultivate relationships
of trust and respect with our neighbors of other faiths. Share
the joy in walking a spiritual path that brings meaning to your
life and allow others o share theirs with you. You don't have
to agree, you don't have to debate differences. Just listen,
learn and walk the path of tolerance. In this way we can develop
a culture of understanding and peace.
